The Future is Coming
The future is coming and GM is cleaning house in preparation.
In an effort to cut $2B in structural costs, GM announced this week that it will offer to buy out the majority of its 58k employees with offers including continued salary and benefits.
Previously, GM announced that it will invest nearly $7B to convert a factory in Michigan for EV battery cell development. The largest investment in the iconic company’s history, the effort will create 4000 new jobs, primarily focused on battery development.
The juxtaposition of these two events paints a clear picture that GM recognizes that the future is coming, and it wants a new, more nimble crew to help navigate its new course.
